ELEANOR PALMER
ABOUT
Palmer's creative process begins with an impulse. Instinctively, she collects moments in nature that capture attention. Visually inspired by natural elements, both micro and macro, Palmer collects inspiration from theirseasonal cycles, patterns, and movements: the intricately weathered bark on an old pine tree and thecalm yet alerted sensations of standing deep within a forest. Over time, this process reveals anaesthetic pattern guiding color, gesture, and form.Listening to the materials, Palmer begins her practice of intuition: Soaking, scraping, printing, pouring, smearing, layering. When the blankness of a new surface is broken she is attuned with the power ofeach layer added, and then the surface rests. Releasing rigid expectations of a final piece, palmer returns with recalibrated eyes. She listens deeply to the surface and witness its emergence:unpredictable textures, authentic movements, visceral reactions, and vibrant depth. Intuitiveconnection with material and gesture is the pulse throughout her work.
